It's been a while!

I think I went through an entire calendar year without doing a single wedding cake! It's crazy what full time employment will do to a person. I was able to make this awesome little gem this past weekend for a friend's wedding:

The top layer was vanilla bean cake with peanut butter filling. The second tier was lemon chiffon cake with strawberry filling and the bottom was chocolate peppermint filled with chocolate ganache and mint butter icing. The end result is like an Andes dinner mint - delicious! All of it topped with buttercream (REAL butter, of course!) and beautiful seasonal peonies, freesia and succulents. So cool! I'm doing another one in two weeks and will keep you posted! In the meantime, hit me up if you want a cake... and here's a close-up!

native plants

This one was a simple one, for a friend. Strawberries and cream for two tiers and Dulce de Leche for the hubby =) Simple decor, she just wanted some fresh sprigs from the garden and surrounding hillside! Beauty.

10.10.10

Two cakes in one day!  This one was vanilla with mango filling on the top two layers, chocolate with strawberry filling on the bottome.  Hope it was tasty!  I'll post a pic of the other cake later, I didn't take one and have to wait to bum one from someone who was at the wedding =)

my sister got married!

Dia de los Muertos style:

Bottom layer is lemon sponge cake with organic strawberry filling, top is vanilla cake with peanut butter filling - ALWAYS a hit.  Completely enrobed in white chocolate ganache - mmmm.

Mini-mini-mini

200 individual cheesecakes + a 10" cheesecake for the wedding party (so the b&g had something to slice).
A topping bar was also included, Ghirardelli chocolate ganache, strawberry sauce, apricot sauce and fresh whipped cream. Delish!

Pale Purple Fondant

This is enough cake to feed almost 300 people! It was humongous, weighing in at over 60 lbs! That means 60 lbs of flour, sugar and eggs. Insane. It was also my first fondant cake at this size, and I am quite happy with the way it turned out. Four layers, four flavors - bottom, 16" is vanilla bean cake with clementine marmalade (from my neighbors tree! A seperate project in itself =)) Second from bottom (14") is dark chocolate cake with strawberry filling, third (12") is vanilla bean cake with spicy peanut butter filling and the top (10") is carrot cake with cream cheese filling. YUM!
